Organised by First Great Western as part of their sponsorship of the year, the train is a striking visual reminder that Bristol is the first UK city to be awarded this prestigious title.

Mayor of Bristol, George Ferguson, said:

“We are rightly proud of Bristol’s status as European Green Capital 2015. It is giving our very special city massive international profile and a real incentive to up our environmental game.

“However I am determined that Bristol continues to give a lead amongst UK cities and electrification of the Great Western Railway – underway right now – is yet another significant step in the right direction.

“I am grateful to First Great Western for this very visible show of support that will take our message right into the heart of London.”

Andrew Mellors, First Great Western Deputy Managing Director, added:

“With the train operating up to four train routes daily, this will provide as many as 2 thousand people every day the opportunity to travel on board the Bristol Green Capital branded train.

“We are a major supporter of Green Capital and when you consider the number of places the train will pass through, it is safe to say thousands more will see how vital sustainable transport is to the local and national economy.”
