The Durdham Down Pipeline
Anne-Marie Tuck, Lead Design Engineer, Black & Veatch will be describing the challenges faced in designing a 10km long 700mm diameter pipeline through the residential streets of Bristol.
The Bristol Resilience Scheme is a £20 million pound project that, now completed, provides improved security of supply to 150,000 Bristol Water customers in central Bristol. Two new pipelines were laid and a new pumping station was built. This new network allows Bristol Water to move water from their northern sources into the heart of Bristol in the event of a loss of supply from southern, Mendip based sources. Additionally, it ensures an increased water supply available to meet the growth of residential and commercial developments in the North Bristol area.
