Skanska judges My Green City school competition

Design Manager Mike Charlesworth helped judge the 30 entries as part of their role as Official Partner of Bristol 2015.

The My Green City competition was run by The Architecture Centre, and challenged primary and secondary students to respond to a design brief on the theme of sustainable cities and food by creating 2D design drawings, 3D models, and a City Charter.

After much deliberation, the judges announced that students from Clevedon, Backwell, Broadlands and Meadowbrook schools were the winners. Their designs will be exhibited in the Architecture Centre’s public gallery during the summer holidays.

Mike Charlesworth said:

“It was inspiring to see children so engaged with thinking about what sustainable cities will look like in the future as well as demonstrating some ingenious model-making skills”.

Skanska’s Bristol team is currently handing over eight primary schools in time for the new school year in September, creating over 3,000 new school places and helping the city keep abreast of rising demand for school places.
